Street Church stands with Israel

With clarity and boldness, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper stood up for Israel and against the Palestinian Authority’s bid for statehood saying, “When Israel, the only country in the world whose very existence is under attack, is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand. “Not just because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israel mob tell us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are in the longer term a threat to all of us. “Whether it is at the United Nations or any other international forum, the easiest thing to do is simply to just get along and go along with this anti-Israel rhetoric, to pretend it is just about being even-handed, and to excuse oneself with the label of honest broker.”

“As long as I am Prime Minister, Canada will not take that stand, whatever the cost!” “Anti-Semitism is a sickness, a deadly moral sickness. “Anti-Semitism kills the lives and security of its victims, the consciences of its perpetrators, the integrity of those who fail to speak out, of those who counsel a false peace, of those who seek refuge in moral equivalence. ”As history and present controversies tell us all too well, anti-Semitism is a threat not only to the Jewish people. “It is a threat to us all – a sickness that quickly morphs into a hatred and a desire to destroy anyone – anyone who is different than its perpetrator.

“It is freedom that makes us human. Whether it leads to heroism or depravity depends on how we use it.” “And I know, by the way, because I have the bruises to show for it, that whether it is at the United Nations or any other international forum, the easiest thing to do is simply to just get along and go along with this anti-Israel rhetoric, to pretend it is just about being even-handed, and to excuse oneself with the label of honest broker. “History shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israel mob tells us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are in the longer term a threat to all of us,”

Prime Minister Harper said to an appreciative audience. “There are, after all, a lot more votes in being anti-Israeli than in taking a stand,” he added. “But as long as I am Prime Minister, whether it is at the United Nations, the Francophone or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand, whatever the cost. “Let us not forget that even now, there are those who choose evil, and would launch another Holocaust if left unchecked.”

In Genesis 12:3, the Lord says in the covenant He makes with Abraham: “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
